Local Areas for Skiing (Ski Resorts)

Between the Gran Sasso and the Maiella, the Velino-Sirente and the mountains of the National Park of Abruzzi, the plateau of the Cinque Miglia and the Monti Caraeolani and Simbrbruini mountains, there is a fine web of ski resorts (very well equipped and at one's disposal )for those who love snow  and come from the centers of Abruzzi and from nearby regions. We list the ski resorts closest to and easily accessible to Roccacaramanico.

 

Passo San Leonardo -At 1282 meters above sea level,the pass which the state highway 487 crosses between Caramanico Terme and Sulmona and is the center of a ski resort which is made up of 2 ski lifts , of 7 km of trails and  circular cross-country trails at its base. A few minutes from Roccacaramanico.

 

Campo di Giove - At the foothills  towards the western side of the Maiella, the lifts of Campo di Giove rise to 2350 above sea level on slopes of  the of the Tavola Rotonda (Round Table), and allows, therefore, the skier to touch the highest altitudes of Abruzzi attainable by  mechanical means. A cable car climbs to the altitude of 1150 of the 1652 meters of Guado di Coccia, the pass between Tavola Rotonda and Monte Porrara  .There are  5 functioning lifts  which serve 20 km. of runs.

 

Passo Lanciano and the Maielletta - At the extreme northern side of the Maiella the skiing district  rises from 1306 meters in Passo Lanciano to 1995 meters of the Maielletta. The chairlifts and 8 ski lifts service 27 of the downhill runs.

 

Pizzoferrato and Gamberale - Between the rock formations and the forests of Monti Pizi, on the confines of the National Park of the Maiella, the downhill runs of Pizzoferrato and Gamberale are served by 2 ski lifts. The area is  of interest to the cross country skier.
